The Mystery of Hamilton County edition by DL August Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
The Mystery of Hamilton County is quite an interesting short story about two youngsters who uncover some exciting historical events while working on a school project. It portrays the role played by one individual in particular in 'helping' a cause in which he believes.
I guess what I take from this story is the fact that we can all play our part to make the world a better place no matter how big or small we are able to do.
It is certainly a very good story and I will certainly recommend it.
I was looking for a fun, quick read with some mystery and sleuthing, kind of like Nancy Drew stories. This was it! Two kids, Jeff and Tiffany uncover a fascinating link to one of their homes and ancestors, their school, and the Underground Railroad from the slavery days. In the end what their sleuthing uncovers changes not just their little town but lives all over the country.
Even though it was a short story it was full of twists and turns and I found I had to finish reading it; I was hooked by the end of the first chapter. Great characters and good, quick story development make it a fun read. I hope to see more work by D.L. August. She's a great storyteller!
Loved reading this story! Reminds me of my fave when I was young, Nancy Drew!
A boy and girl decide to look into rumors of an underground railroad connection in their town, they find an old map in a box and it leads them on a fun discovery!
I enjoyed the book. Good subject, interesting characters, positive thoughts and action throughout. A good family read that shows the power of enthusiasm and taking action.
This is a short mystery about 2 young teens who piece together clues to uncover a mystery that has far reaching effects.
This is an ideal book for teens / preteens not only for its Nancy Drew like mystery theme, but also for its excellent educational value. The author paid attention to lot of details, including the historical events and timelines making it a fulfilling read.
Highly recommend!
